Linux Mint 21.2 Beta now available with Cinnamon 5.8, Xfce 4.18 and MATE 1.26

Linux Mint 21.2 Beta

It had been a couple of days or three since it had been published on the Linux blogosphere, but the news was not official. Most projects upload their work hours or days before announcing their availability, and that has happened again with the launch of Linux Mint 21.2 Beta: First they uploaded the images, and today they have published that it is already available for download and the first confirmed details about the version that should arrive in mid-July.

As almost always, Linux Mint 21.2, which will carry the Victoria's code name, is available in three options, Cinnamon, which is the main one, and also in Xfce and MATE. Some of the news are shared, but there are differences that come to it, mostly (if not all), from the projects behind each of the desks.

Linux Mint 21.2 should arrive in July

Among the shared, Linux Mint 21.2 uses Linux 5.15, which is the LTS version of the kernel used by Ubuntu 22.04. And it is that Jammy Jellyfish is the base of the v21.2 of this Linux with a mint flavor. As for the desktops, it will be available in:

Like Ubuntu 22.04, will be supported until 2027, although in the information official only mentions “security updates”. Until 2024, all versions of Linux Mint will use this same base, since they only upload it when another LTS version of Ubuntu is released, and the next one is scheduled (except for a major surprise) for April of that year.

To know a little more detail about what this version includes, you can read our articles on monthly newsletters, such as this o this, the links to the list of available desktops and also, of course, the official publications that are included at the end of this article. When the stable version is released, here at Linux Adictos We will publish extensive articles with great detail.
