WINE 5.8 now available, with notifications for Plug & Play devices and new GIF encoder

WINE 5.8

Like every fifteen days since the update model changed and after the software v5.7, is now available for download and installation WINE 5.8. As usual, the developer team has only highlighted a few functions as important new features, among which this time we have that they have introduced support for Plug & Play notifications, improved support for Clang in MSVC mode or an initial implementation for an encoder by GIFS.

On the other hand and as in each new version, they have taken the opportunity to correct errors, 44 in total, and other improvements that have resulted in 322 changes, most of them (85) introduced by developer Zebediah Figure. In the last link there is also information to add the official project repository to receive this and other future updates as soon as they are ready for systems like Ubuntu / Debian or Fedora, but also for Android and macOS.

The next version will already be a WINE 5.9 that should arrive next Friday May 22as long as there are no surprises. It is expected that for this version they will continue to advance in sections such as the implementation of the GIF encoder and improving the reliability, stability and compatibility with Windows applications.
