suyu: Yuzu rises from the ashes in another version where sarcasm is not lacking. Also for Linux

suyu, new emulator for Nintendo Switch

A few moments ago we published the bad news that Yuzu and Citra ceased to exist due to the lawsuit imposed by Nintendo. In the same article we talked about putting doors on the field, and that there were already users who had uploaded the emulators in the form of fork to other repositories so that the most popular emulators for Switch and 3DS could continue to be used. Now I just found out that it exists water, the rise from the ashes of Yuzu. And she has risen laughing.

When reading the name I have already noticed a certain whiff of jokes. Supposedly, "yuzu" is read "yusu", so I thought "one was yusu and the other was suyu...", but no. Or not at all. Below we can read that suyu is pronounced as "sue-you", which in Spanish would be translated as "I denounce you" in the sense of taking you to court. And in the description we also read that they are not going to make money «mainly so that Nintendo doesn't sue us hahaha«.

suyu is available on GitLab

The original repository was opened by Crimson-Hawk on GitHub about 14 hours ago, but the first thing we read there is that they have moved to GitLab. They have also opened a new Discord, and part of the agreement of the Yuzy/Citra developers was that they eliminate all traces of them, including chats of this type.

«suyu, pronounced sue-you, is the afterlife of the most popular open source emulator for Nintendo Switch, started by the creators of Citra. It is written in C++ with portability in mind, and we maintain builds for Windows, Linux, and Android«.

Some of their development is probably in the works, or that's the impression you get when you see their logo. It's also possible that they didn't want to waste a lot of time on something like this in case Nintendo goes back to its old ways.

We don't know how all this will end, but we can speculate. It was expected that after the death of these emulators, others would come out, but not so soon. If we look back in time, to when to watch a movie we had to use software like aMule, and that the attempts to avoid it have only achieved that today we can watch it more easily and even without downloading anything, One can imagine a future in which cutting off two heads produces 14 more, as with Hydra.

UPDATED: At least there is another head that has grown already, apart from the forks. Is called nuzu. I update this update with more information: none of these projects are run by developers. It seems to be people who have limited themselves to keeping the emulator available, but they are not going to improve it (they don't know). nuzu is no longer on GitHub.

The next chapter of this series has arrived soon, and we will have to wait to see how it goes. Grab some popcorn.

NOTE: we always have to be careful with what we install on our computers. There is always the possibility that someone malicious wants to take advantage of the situation.
