MX Linux 23.2, available now, is now based on Debian 12.4

MX Linux 23.2

The MX developers launched a few moments ago MX Linux 23.2. This is the second maintenance update for "Libretto", and it has arrived a month and a half after v23.1. The January version introduced among its most notable new features support for the Raspberry Pi 5, and this February version has arrived, above all, to correct errors in this version that is still based, as it could not be otherwise, on Debian 12 .

"Bookworm" arrived in June 2023, and since then Debian has released several maintenance updates. MX Linux 23.2 is based on Bookworm, but in its fourth point update, more specifically Debian 12.4. What you have below is a list with the most outstanding novelties which has introduced the third -two and the zero- version of Libretto.

Most notable new features of MX Linux 23.2

  • Updates to the installer for fstab generation, simplification of the graphical interface and fixes for users of the "toram" live function.
  • New “MX Locale” tool, for managing system regional configuration information, system default language, etc.
  • New “papirus-folder-colors” tool, which is a fun little tool for creating papirus family themes with different folder colors.
  • The AHS Xfce version includes the liquorix 6.6 kernel, updated firmware and mesa libraries.
  • The auto-update option is located in MX-Packageinstaller ->Popular Apps -> Kernels.
  • The KDE/plasma iso replaces webcamoid with kamoso.
  • The Xfce and fluxbox isos replace webamoid with guvcview.
  • Fixes to mx-comfort themes for some apps that had white text on a white background and black text on a black background.
  • "Build-essential" packages now included in iso, for those users who need to compile a driver and cannot connect.
  • Pipewire 1.0
  • Updated manual.
  • New “MX LINUX Desert Landscape” wallpaper option.
  • Many many language updates

Among other new features, the main version (Xfce) and Fluxbox have been updated to the latest 6.1 kernel, while the AHS uses the 6.6 liqourix kernel. All ISOs have been updated with the latest packages arriving from Debian and MX repositories. The version for the Raspberry Pi uses the latest software available for its architecture.
