Manjaro 20.0.3, the second update in a week that, combined, includes many new features

manjaro 20.0.3

The company behind this famous Linux distribution launched manjaro 20.0.3. It continues with the codename of Lysia, but we have to report another launch as well because, apparently, we missed it and we just we had published the news about v20.0.1. May 31 threw v20.0.2 of the operating system and just a few hours ago, and seven days after the previous delivery, they have released another update to continue introducing changes and improvements to the already very good distribution.

Considering that we are going to talk about an update and review the previous one, many new features have been introduced in Manjaro. Among them, one introduced today is the latest stable version of the Linux kernel, a Linux 5.7 that was released last Sunday. Below you have the list of most outstanding novelties that have arrived with Manjaro 20.0.3 and others that arrived with the previous installment.

Highlights of Manjaro 20.0.3 and 20.0.2

The news that they have included in the last ISO image are the following:

  • They have added their software center as a package.
  • Arc themes have been updated.
  • The kernel has been updated to Linux version 5.7.
  • Firefox has been updated to series 77 and 78. Currently, the most recent stable version is Firefox 77.0.1. 78 is the one on the beta channel.
  • The usual latest updates, including Haskell and Python by Arch.

To the previous changes we must add those of Manjaro 20.0.2, which are the following:

  • All of its kernels were renewed or rebuilt for the new GCC10.
  • KDE-git packages have been updated.
  • KDE Applications 20.04.1.
  • Mesa was updated to another corrective version.
  • Cinnamon 4.6.0.
  • More Deepin updates.
  • Updates to various GNOME packages.
  • AMDVLK 2020.Q2.4.
  • Network Manager 1.24.2 20.
  • Calamares added some necessary solutions to make them work again for Manjaro's hardware vendors.
  • openjdk was updated to series 11.
  • Libre Office 6.4.4.

Now available with XFCE, GNOME and KDE environments

Manjaro uses the development model known as Rolling Release, which means that after a first installation, we will receive updates for life. Therefore, new ISOs are only for zero installations and everything mentioned above will appear as updates to existing users. Manjaro 20.0.3 is now available with desktops XFCE, GNOME y KDE. The next major version will already be a Manjaro 21 whose codename will start with M and should be released this summer… if there are no surprises.

Manjaro is a real pass, I have it since edition 19, I think, because how it is rolling is the only thing that you never know very well and I have it pointing to testing, nothing stable, I mean it is as if it were a pure linux arch, because When targeting testing, it is the same arch update cycle and the day I have a problem has yet to come, I always have everything up to date, zero problems and you install the distro only once and you forget everything.
