The arrival of Linux Kernel 5.0 was a great event. Although Linus Torvalds insists on saying that the change in number has occurred only because he does not have enough fingers left to count by adding those of the hands and feet, it comes with many improvements that translate into more compatibility with the different devices. We all found out about that release and it was published in all the specialized Linux blogs, but the same has not happened with v5.0.1 or with the Linux Kernel 5.0.2.
In fact, Linux Kernel 5 has been available for 5.0.2 days. As with v5.0.1, I discovered it at update the kernel with Ukuu, but on my new laptop it gave me problems and I have decided not to play with this computer because it has become my main device. So, I went back and forgot that I had seen that the Linux Kernel 5.0.2 was already available. I also thought that it would already be published, so I did not give it too much importance. It seems important to mention that the problems I experienced was probably due to the way I update the kernel, not removing previous versions and giving it a second chance.
Linux Kernel 5.0.2, maintenance release with many fixes
Among the novelties, available at this link, the first four stand out as being related to Intel. And is that Ubuntu has problems on some computers with Intel components, so this version could correct some of these problems. With this in mind, it seems like a good idea for users with crashing Intel equipment to upgrade as soon as possible.
This month, Canonical to launch a beta of Ubuntu 19.04 Disco Dingo. Considering that the beta will be released a month before the official version, we cannot rule out that the final version of Disco Dingo includes the Linux Kernel 5.0.2 that was released last week. I think it would be a wise move and that many users would benefit. If this is not the case, they should release an update soon that does correct the problems that v5.0.2 fixes.
