Linus Torvalds releases a new stable version of the kernel that he develops every two months or so. In March He launched Linux 5.6, and earlier this month He launched Linux kernel v5.7. For those of us who conform or stay with the kernel offered by our distribution, this news is not important; they take care of maintaining it. For those who update manually, you have to know that Linux 5.6 will no longer receive updates.
Linux 5.6 has received a total of 19 maintenance updates. And a few days ago, Greg Kroah-Hartman, the main maintainer of the kernel, ad the Linux 5.6.19 release, at the same time that it warns us that this is the EOL version of it. EOL is the acronym for End OF Life, or the end of its life or end of life cycle in Spanish, therefore, those who want to continue protecting themselves from any type of failure have to update to kernel v5.7.

Please note, this is the LAST release of 5.6 and to be made. Please move to the 5.7 series and right now. It is now the end of its life cycle. I am announcing the 5.6.19 kernel release. All users of kernel series 5.6 must upgrade.
The end-of-life version of the kernel came with some exciting new features, including one that keeps computers cooler. 5.7 is not as important as the previous one, but if you have polished a lot what was already available. As for the next version, Torvalds assures that in Linux 5.8 have modified 20% of the existing, which means it will be one of the most important releases in the history of the Linux kernel. That release is scheduled for early September and will reach almost instantly to all distros whose development model is Rolling Release.
