GNOME 3.34 to be released on September 11, GNOME 3.32 arrives today

GNOME 3.30

Not officially released yet GNOME 3.32 has just been released (here's the news) and we are already thinking about the next release. The GNOME project has published the road map of the next graphical environment GNOME 3.34. Taking into account the dates, it is more than likely that it is the graphical environment that Ubuntu 19.10 uses, although we still have to wait to be sure of it in the same way that we have to wait to be sure that Ubuntu 19.04 includes the Linux Kernel 5.0.

According to the roadmap, today, March 13, the launch of GNOME 3.32 and, right after, the starting signal will be given to the development of a next version that will be officially launched on September 11. Its code name will be "Thessaloniki" and two update versions will be released: GNOME 3.34.1, scheduled for October 9, and v3.34.2 of the graphical environment, scheduled for later. The first update will arrive just for the launch of Ubuntu 19.10, so we cannot rule out that we will have to wait a few weeks to be able to enjoy it in the standard version of the system developed by Canonical.

GNOME 3.34.1 will arrive just before Disco Dingo

El GNOME 3.34 development will start today, right after the release of v3.32. Between v3.32 and v3.34 there will be three more versions that will be released between May and July. We are talking about GNOME 3.33, which will arrive on June 19, and GNOME 3.34, which will arrive on July 17. Right after, they will release the first beta of v3.34. The first trial version of v3.33.1 will be released on April 24.

At the time of writing, little or nothing is known about what the new versions will include, but we can assume that will update all or almost all applications of the package and will add improvements and bug fixes. They are also likely to implement a new theme, like the one Yaru Team has been developing for a while. If it does not arrive for Ubuntu 19.10, the new version can be installed by adding the project's repositories.

Curious about what GNOME v3.34 will bring?
