GNOME 3.32 will have a radical change in its icon theme

The next version of the desktop environment, GNOME 3.32, expected to be released in the middle of March, will arrive with many improvements and new features in its different applications, design and vital components, in addition to including a radical change in icons.

In addition to the minimally revamped desktop theme, it looks like GNOME 3.32 will come with a radical new icon theme that ismatch the lines of application developers to have a more unified design.

GNOME designer wrote Jakub Steiner wrote in his most recent blog post about the redesign of the icons that will come by default in GNOME 3.32, an environment that is used in many Linux distributions, including Ubuntu.

"One of the most important goals of GNOME in recent years has been to give more power to developers, this initiative is about making icons more achievable for more applications."

The new icon theme will have more tools for newcomers who want to design icons for the GNOME ecosystem, including a mesh, a new color palette, as well as recommended shapes.

With the upcoming icon redesign, Steiner introduced an app called icon preview, created by Zander Brown, which promises to make the icon design workflow faster and smoother by allowing designers to start from a template, previewing icons in various contexts as you design.

Icon Preview will also allow export your icons in SVG format for use in different applications, but this feature will arrive in future versions, as mentioned by Steiner, who welcomes new designers who want to contribute to the design of GNOME icons. GNOME 3.32 will arrive on March 13, 2019.

Let's see, change if clearer, but design without offending seems to be from the year 2000 and we almost reached 2020 but hey, okay ...

In 2000 the icons weren't even remotely similar to these

Interestingly, we are in 2020 now and indeed, that was the design line that the icons followed, just now in February Microsoft announces its new icons to give greater uniformity and the design is if not the same, very similar.
