Banshee is updated with some changes to its user interface

Banshee, media player

Until not long ago, my media player was Banshee. Why? Simply because I find it simple, attractive and, what was most important at the time, it includes an equalizer. Everything changed when I started using PulseEffects, which allows us to have an equalizer and sound effects throughout the system. In any case, Banshee is a great player and has been updated to version 2.9.1 with some more outstanding news that have to do with its image.

Banshee 2.9.1 is a version that precedes v3.0 and is the first to include support for GStreamer 1.x between platforms. But, as we have mentioned, the highlight seems to be in a new option that adds a new multimedia layer. It is a clean alternative, available in Vista / Multimedia / Panel, which is better today. And is that several years ago we have left behind the details and ornaments that make everything seem very loaded.

Banshee is now compatible with GStreamer

On the other hand, and how could it be less, bug fixes included. 35 in total, among which we have a patch that will prevent Banshee from closing when connecting an iPod. Many changes have also been made to the behavior of the "Repeat" function. And something that strikes me in a week in which I have wanted to buy a physical DVD and had a hard time taking a walk around my town to find it: CD audio sources are redisplayed when inserting a CD. And it is that CDs / DVDs are hardly used anymore.

Banshee is available in the official Ubuntu repositories and the update should appear this week in the Ubuntu Software Center Software Update. If you don't want to wait, in this link you have the source code of this more than decent multimedia player.

Are you a Banshee user or do you prefer another music player?
