WINE 5.14 introduces the Webdings font and over 300 other changes

WINE 5.14

It is difficult for WineHQ to surprise us with a launch. The same day, Friday, and almost the same time, yesterday threw a new development version, a WINE 5.14 of which its developers have only highlighted 4 new features. It sounds like little, and more if we take into account that one of them is the usual "Various bug fixes". Of course, that does not mean that they have not introduced changes, although it is true that there are less than, for example, two weeks ago.

In terms of numbers, WINE 5.14 has introduced 26 bug fixes and a total of 302 changes. Among the new features, the initial implementation for the PE conversion of the MSVCRT libraries stands out. Below you have the list of the most outstanding news that WineHQ has mentioned and some more related information.

WINE 5.14 highlights

  • More restructuring of the console support.
  • Initial version of the Webdings font.
  • Beginning of PE conversion of MSVCRT libraries.
  • Various bug fixes.

Interested users can now install WINE 5.14 from its source code, available in this y this other link, or from binaries that can be downloaded from here. In the link from where we can download the binaries there is also information to add the official project repository to receive this and other future updates as soon as they are ready for systems such as Ubuntu / Debian or Fedora, but also for Android and macOS.

The next development version will be WINE 5.15 and, if there are no surprises, something that seems impossible to happen on the WineHQ agenda, the next August 14. Among the improvements, they are expected to continue working on the two things they started this week, namely the Webdings font and the PE conversion of the MSVCRT libraries, as well as introducing hundreds of small changes as usual.
