Top 5 Gnome Shell Extensions

Gnome 3.24 desktop on a laptop.

The announcement of Ubuntu has already caused many users to start using Gnom-Shell as their default desktop. This is a problem for novice users who started with Unity and have not seen another desktop.

More problematic is for those who come from light distributions or light environments like Xfce or MATE. To help all these users we have compiled the 5 best extensions that we can install and use in Gnome.

Dash to Panel

Surely many of you (I include myself in the list) do not like that Dash that Gnome Shell has. Is extension changes the Dash and turns everything into a simple panel, as other desktops have, such as Cinnamon or KDE. This extension is quite interesting if you don't like the aesthetics of Gnome.

gnome pomodoro

This extension is a true reflection of its name. It is an extension that helps us apply the Pomodoro techniques on our computer. In this case, after installing it, an applet appears with the Pomodoro period system and control. It is useful for those looking for productivity on the desktop.

Do Not Disturb Button

More and more notifications we receive on our computer, not only for connecting a USB but also when we receive emails, calendar alarms, chats, etc ... This simple extension mute all those notifications so we can work without any distraction interesting, right?

Top Icons Plus

This extension allows us change the position of desktop icons, not only the traditional icons but also the icons of the applets. A very interesting extension for those who want to customize their Gnome Shell a bit more.

Clipboard Indicator

This extension is a simple applet that will show us all the files, text and images that we have stored in the clipboard, documents that we can reuse during the session and that we can also release thanks to this applet. Certainly quite an interesting extension, don't you think?

Conclusion

These extensions can be found in the Gnome Shell extensions directory. A free directory that connects to the desktop, so there is no problem installing any of these extensions. In any case, the directory is full of free extensions, extensions that may be more useful than those mentioned, although the ones we have collected are quite important for users who come from other desktops.

Well, in some cases TopIcons Plus does not show me the icons so it leaves a gap and only by restarting the extension I can see them again.
Other extensions that I find useful are "Simple net speed" and "Status area horizontal spacing" the latter to gain some space in the top bar.
