So you can try Deepin Linux without installing it, in Live mode and in Spanish

Deepin Linux in Live mode

Deepin is a graphical environment with a very careful aesthetic (DDE) or a operating system. The graphical environment is very popular with the community for its own design and applications, and is used in community versions of some distributions such as Manjaro. The operating system is one based on Debian and with the most genuine Deepin experience, but testing it is not as direct as it is in other distros also based on Debian such as Ubuntu or Linux Mint.

The problem: Deepin Linux does not enter an environment "live" or Live when your ISO is released; It goes directly to the installer, and there is no possible way to use the operating system. Or there isn't if we don't do anything to solve it, because it is possible. What you have to do is tell it in the boot command to enter this mode, or more specifically not to go directly to the installer.

Entering Deepin Live mode

What you have to do is what these two steps say:

  1. In the entry menu, which we could refer to as GRUB of the Live version, we press tab. We will see that a command appears below.
  2. With the navigation arrows and the keyboard, we have to make it similar to what is seen in the following screenshot. You have to delete the part that says "-installer" just after "livecd", and in "local" you have to put our language. I, who am Spanish, have put es_ES, and other options would be:
    • es_AR (Argentina).
    • es_BO (Bolivia).
    • es_CL (Chile).
    • es_CO (Colombia).
    • es_CR (Costa Rica).
    • es_DO (Dominican Republic).
    • es_EC (Ecuador).
    • es_GT (Guatemala).
    • es_HN (Honduras).
    • es_MX (Mexico).
    • es_NI (Nicaragua).
    • es_PA (Panama).
    • es_PE (Peru).
    • es_PR (Puerto Rico).
    • es_PY (Paraguay).
    • es_SV (El Salvador).
    • es_UY (Uruguay).
    • es_VE (Venezuela).

Deepin Start Menu

The complete line for the Spanish of Spain would remain (what is seen behind livecd in the screenshot it is the cursor, not an underscore:

.linux /live/vmlinuz boot=live components quiet splash union=overlay livecd local=es_ES.UTF-8 initrd=/live/initrd.lz

Once you have the modified line, press Enter. When entering the operating system, it will do it like endeavourOS does, for example, which does not query the language, allows you to use the operating system in Live mode and there is a launcher to install the operating system. If the entire “premises” part were removed, it would be in English.

Simple and perfect to try

With this simple modification, Deepin Linux can be tested without having to install the complete operating system, even if it is in a virtual machine. And you can also test directly on DistroSea, although it must be remembered that an operating system that runs in the browser will never have the same performance as running locally.
