Plasma 6 will have a function that will help us not lose the pointer on the desktop

Large pointer in Plasma 6 and Mac OS X El Capitan

We are getting closer to the KDE 6 Mega-Release. The stable version will arrive in February, but You can now try it in KDE neon in your Unstable ISO. It may be interesting for developers or super-early adopters, since it is possible to take a look at everything we will see in several months. For example, the new General View of plasma 6, much more attractive and with more sense, and soon we will always know where it is on our pointer.

KDE says that the feature they are preparing has borrowed the idea from macOS, Apple's desktop operating system. For a long time, so much so that I have had it on my old iMac and it has not updated the operating system, I think since 2015 (it was not yet "macOS", but "Mac OS Moving the mouse or touchpad quickly we can see that the pointer becomes much larger, and that is what will come to Plasma 6. Searching for information on the Internet, I came across an article by OMG! Free! which tells us about Jiggle, an extension for GNOME that does the same thing (it does not work in the latest version of the Shell) and its developers also say that it is based on Apple's idea.

Always controlled pointer in Plasma 6

To understand why this feature exists, I think you need to think big. When we are working on a laptop of more or less 15″, losing the pointer is not easy, but it is possible. When we work on large screens and with several monitors, that's where we can lose sight of the pointer, and that's where all this makes the most sense. The only thing you have to do is quickly move the mouse or with a finger on the touch panel and the cursor will become larger during the time in which we are performing that gesture.

Although everything explained is from macOS, or rather, Mac OS X. It was introduced in El Capitan, and the only information we have about what KDE will do exactly is this implementation request on the project's bugs page and which, at least for now, will be disabled by default. The truth is that it won't hurt me. I sometimes lose the cursor here in WordPress, since being a text editor, the cursor becomes that kind of I instead of the arrow.

Plasma 6 will arrive alongside the rest of the KDE 6 Mega-Release in February.
