OpenMandriva 4.0 Beta: an old acquaintance with news

openMandriva 4.0

OpenMandriva It is a GNU / Linux distribution, a project published by the OpenMandriva Association and as a fork of that distribution that was so successful in the past: Mandriva Linux. As you know, especially if you were or are a fan of this distro, it is a distribution based on RPM packages. Now with OpenMandriva the work of that old project is continued but totally renewed to continue giving joy to the fans and to continue with the development of this distro.

OpenMandriva Lx 4.0 has planned its final launch in September 2018 with an Alpha that we have already been able to test. After that, it was intended to have the Alpha 1 in December, on December 25, 2018. And now, in February 2019, a further step in development has been taken and the Beta version is released. That means that important changes are already frozen, and from now on they will only be in charge of fine-tuning the development, correcting bugs or possible problems that may arise, but without changing anything to add new features.

The news is already included in this beta and it will be almost identical to the final version except for those tweaks to polish the code. You already know that it has support for architectures AMD64 and ARM64, in addition to ARMv7 to be installed in devices with ARM-based chips. In addition to the famous RISC-V that are present in some SBCs and that are giving much talk lately for being an open ISA.

If you are interested, you can now download and test the ISO from the official website. Between the news What you will find is the new Linux kernel 4.20, the latest version of the Calamares installer, office packages such as LibreOffice 6.2, and the KDE Plasma 15.5 desktop environment version. Undoubtedly great new features that make waiting for the final version more difficult, but for now, we can "kill the bug" by testing this Beta ...

How cute, very beautiful. I started my adventure with Linux Mandriva version 9.0 very excellent. Since then I do not separate from super LINUX.
Linux is powerful, stable, virus free. And it has it all.
I am not interested in Windows I already left 2 years ago.
