Editors are designed in the form of desktop applications that are written in JavaScript using web technologies, but they combine client and server components into one set, designed for self-sufficient use on the user's local system, without accessing an external service. The project code is distributed under the free AGPLv3 license.
OnlyOffice claims to be fully compatible with MS Office and OpenDocument formats. Supported formats: DOC, DOCX, ODT, RTF, TXT, PDF, HTML, EPUB, XPS, DjVu, XLS, XLSX, ODS, CSV, PPT, PPTX, ODP.
It is possible to expand the functionality of the editors through plugins, for example, plugins are available for creating templates and adding YouTube videos.
Main new features of OnlyOffice 6.0
Among the most important changes in this new version, spreadsheet editor capabilities highlighted that are significantly expanded, since support for pivot tables received that simplify data analysis and provide summary information on typical templates.

In the server edition, support was added for private rooms pTo collaborate with encrypted documents. Access to private rooms is through end-to-end encryption. AES-256 is used for encryption
In addition, The first version of the OnlyOffice AppServer platform has been published, which allows you to create your own scalable office systems based on OnlyOffice modules.
Among the modules that are being developed (not all available yet): People (group management), Documents (document management and collaboration), Chat (messaging), Mail (e-mail), Calendar (calendar planner), Projects (project management and tracking task solution), CRM (customer interaction organization and sales management).
