Mozilla fires the Firefox OS team

Surely this news has attracted the attention of many who considered this free operating system for dead. And really, Firefox OS was not dead but had left the mobile market.

From the announcement until now, Firefox OS and its developers they had dedicated themselves to bringing the operating system to Smart TVs and the Internet of Things, but it seems that not even with new markets has it been enough to keep this operating system alive.

Today we found out that Mozilla has fired the entire Firefox OS team. The reason for this is the change of interests in Mozilla. According to the statements, Mozilla has left the commercial world to dedicate itself to research, that is, it will not bring its products to devices or launch its own devices and will dedicate itself to developing technologies and programs. This change of plans brings with it not only the layoffs of the developers but the cancellation of all those products that have or were going to have Firefox OS inside.

The Firefox OS team will finally leave the project

This is not the only thing Mozilla has done for the past few weeks. The logo has been another of the new elements that Mozilla It has made, together with its new browser, an improved Firefox that will be released later this year.

All these changes indicate that Mozilla and its browser are not going through good times, something that many users have indicated for a long time but these movements do not cease to surprise.

Personally, the news does not surprise me at all since in the time since the announcement until now nothing has been said about it and that is not always good. However, Firefox OS is Free Software and that means that we can get the code and create our own mobile operating system or port it to other Android devices. Now it is up to the Community to act.

Mozilla, what were you thinking about when you got the idea that another operating system would work on the market ... There are too many OSs on the market and little desire from manufacturers to keep them updated.
