At the beginning of April we met a new version of Manjaro, a version known by the nickname of Gellivara. A version that many users are happy with and that will soon receive the biggest version update so far. The name of this version will be known as manjaro 17.0.2.
Manjaro is a rolling release distribution, which means that many changes are being incorporated little by little. But despite this, the version will be released soon. The release will be an ISO installation image that will contain all the changes and that will serve many users to have Manjaro on their computers.
Manjaro Gellivara 17.0.2 will be released with three versions: Xfce, Gnome and KDE
The new version of Manjaro will contain Linux kernel 4.9. The version X.org 1.19 will be the one that contains the graphical server supported by the Nvidia 340.102 driver and free AMD GPU driver. Calamares, the Manjaro installer, has been updated to the latest stable version, as well as the rest of the programs used by the distribution. Plasma 5.10 is the version of the KDE desktop that incorporates the distribution, Xfce 4.12 for the Xfce version; and a vanilla version of Gnome for the Gnome version.
Manjaro configuration tools will also be updated and optimized for the end user. Manjaro is based on Arch Linux, but like the rest of the distributions that are based on Arch Linux, the repositories do not contain AUR, something that has been changed for the next version of Manjaro Gellivara.
The release date of the new version of Manjaro Gellivara is not known but we do know that the third release candidate already exists, which indicates that the final version of Manjaro Gellivara 17.0.2 will be released shortly. As soon as it is released, if we use this distribution, it is advisable to update, as it will make the distribution more secure than before. If we want to install the distribution, then we have to go to the official website and download it.
