Mageia 6 will appear this 2017, but it is not known when it will be

Mageia

In June 2016 the first snapshot of Mageia 6 was released. Months later, a new stable version was released but it was not Mageia 6 but it was Mageia 5.1. An optimized version of branch 5, but What about Mageia 6? What happened to the Mageia version?

Mageia is a distribution that was born from Mandrake project, which was split into Mageia and OpenMandriva. The latter goes on and Mageia too, although they haven't had much life recently.

En the official Mageia blog, those responsible for the distribution have recently published that the new version will be released in 2017, along with Mageia 7, which will be in production after Mageia, although the latter will distance itself from Mageia 6. The team regrets that they have not been able to release the version on time, however the version will exist.

The delay of Mageia 6 has been due among other things to the partitioning problem that existed

During this time, despite there being no development versions, Yes, there have been bugs corrections and incorporation of new versions, but the most important thing they have done is to solve a serious problem that the distribution had on partitioning.

This problem was deleting partitions and it has been difficult to solve but everything seems to indicate that it is already solved. That is why it is also stated that the development of Mageia 7 will not be as long as the development of this version, because the problems they are encountering are not expected in the future.

In any case, no one can claim that the distribution is free from serious problems so possibly Mageia 7 or Mageia 8 have some other delay in their calendar. But the positive thing about this is knowing that the Mageia distribution continues and that the Mandrake or Mandriva philosophy continues within the Gnu / Linux Community.

There are new advances in this regard. According to the latest news, they will soon release Sta 2, and they will report weekly on the course of the new version and other matters so that the community is better informed.

Waiting for it to come out I keep with Mageia 5.1 which is very very stable. I encourage everyone to try it.

    Regards!!!
