Computers are becoming more powerful, and probably that is why, or at least that is the case in my case, less and less is heard or read about desktops like the one used by Lubuntu. But it is not possible for everyone and everywhere to have an average team, and those types of people will be happy to read news like the one we bring you today. LXQt 1.4.0 It was released a few minutes ago, and should be the last version to use Qt5.
Qt6 has been available for a long time, in fact we are already on the way sixth point update, but changes must be made with caution. KDE also continues to use Qt5, and there are still three months left before they go up to 6. LXQt 1.4.0 remains at Qt 5.15, and if everything goes as expected, it is the last version that will be released. Even if they have to delay the release of LXQt 1.5.0, those are the plans. - General:
- Released lxqt-menu-data to replace lxmenu-data where necessary.
- In the LXQt file manager and its library, the user can now add the command to the default terminal, the split view state is taken into account when restoring the tabs of the last window, an SVG icon is added for PCManFM -Qt, assembly dialog password and anonymity settings are remembered, and several code fixes and improvements are made.
- QTerminal supports audible chime as an option. Additionally, Putty-style mouse button swapping is supported, and the Falcon color scheme is added.
- The LXQt image viewer now has minimal support for color spaces.
- Fixed old issues with checking/removing urgency and cycling windows with the mouse wheel in the LXQt Panel taskbar, and added an option to the custom commands plugin to display the output as an image.
- LXQt Session updates the DBus activation environment, to fix issues with applications (such as Telegram) that set DBusActivatable to true in their desktop entries.
- The translations have received many updates.
- LibFM-Qt/PCManFM-Qt:
- Use lxqt-menu-data instead of lxmenu-data.
- Allow users to add terminal commands.
- Include split view state when restoring tabs from the last window.
- Remember the password and anonymity settings of the mount dialog.
- Do not select extensions when creating new template files.
- Fixed a crash when deleting the route bar.
- The wallpaper cache is checked to see if it is up to date by reading the Desktop settings.
- Fixed –wallpaper-mode command line option.
- LXQt Panel:
- Use lxqt-menu-data instead of lxmenu-data.
- Fixed checking/removing urgency in the taskbar.
- Fixed window cycling with the mouse wheel and prevention of focus stealing in the taskbar.
- An option is added to the custom commands plugin to display the output as an image.
- Fixed initial volume displayed with PulseAudio in the volume plugin.
- QTerminal/QTermWidget:
- Manage ringing (BEL, '\a') through libcanberra, and add an "Audible Ringing" option.
- Putty style mouse button switching supported.
- Falcon color scheme has been added.
- LXImage-Qt:
- Added minimal support for color spaces.
- Removed ImageShack upload option (ImageShack now requires a paid subscription).
- Updated DBus environment activation to address issues with applications like Telegram in LXQt Session.
The project announced The availability of LXQt 1.4.0 just a few moments ago, and that usually means that its code is available, but not yet in any Linux distribution. In the coming days, the Rolling Releases will begin to implement it, and others will arrive within a period that will depend on their philosophies and development models.
