Linux Mint is still the most popular distribution

According to the distowatch annual ranking of distribution popularity, Linux Mint is the most popular Linux distribution of all, a position he also got last year.

Linux Mint is still the most used distribution, something that has a lot of merit since this year 2016 has not been easy for them. We remember that Linux Mint suffered an attack on its website, a very hard blow from which they have been known to recover quickly.

Second follows Debian, one of the most solid and oldest distributions of all and that maintains a large community of users especially on the topic of servers. In third place we find Ubuntu, a distribution that although at first glance seems the most famous, it has not managed to get past the third position.

In fourth place we have OpenSuse, the operating system for individuals of the SUSE company and in fifth place we have the Fedora operating system, which remains in the fifth position despite having lost a follower this year.

In sixth place we have Manjaro, a distribution that is more or less stable compared to last year. In seventh place we have CentOS, in eighth place the Mageia project and in ninth place we have Arch Linux, which continues to grow in popularity.

Finally we have in tenth place Zorin OS, closely followed by Elementary OS, which has grown a lot this last year. To finish the list we have less popular distributions such as Android-x86, PCLinuxOS, Deeping or Puppy Linux. In short, the list of the best has remained like this.

  1. Linux Mint.
  2. debian
  3. Ubuntu
  4. OpenSUSE.
  5. fedora
  6. Manjaro.
  7. CentOS
  8. Magic.
  9. ArchLinux.
  10. ZorinOS.
  11. Basic OS.

Without a doubt the big winners of the year are Linux Mint, Arch Linux and Elementary OS, since Linux Mint se has managed to maintain despite his problems and the other two continue to gain adherents.

It is that Cinnamon is a desktop pass. It is already light but if it were a little more it would be perfect for my taste. Above with the style of Linux Mint it is of cinema.

Hello. It strikes me that Linux Mint (and Debian, and Fedora and other distributions) are considered as a unit, regardless of the desktop environment (eg, Mint Cinnamon and Mint Mate are considered Mint) and yet Ubuntu appears divided (Ubuntu with Unity it is considered a different distro than Ubuntu Mate or Kubuntu, for example). If the same criteria are applied, the classification would change.

I am new to linux mint 18. I find it spectacular. What I don't like is that you have to download the additional language packs for Spanish.

For the record, I am a user of linux mint 17.3 mate, which frankly works very well, I am very happy with this distribution. I have a somewhat old team and I am delighted with LM, it is light and powerful.

Much better Ubuntu by far in any branch of distribution, unity, mate, kubuntu, xubuntu, lubuntu. etc.

It also attracts my attention to present Ubuntu divided into its different desktops and the other distros are seen as a unit. Confirmed that statistics are interpreted for convenience

It's not for nothing, but Linux Mint knows how to take advantage of its own tools and infrastructure. The LM place is well deserved. Let's just hope we see Linux Mint KDE = P

In 6 months DISTROWATCH LINUX MINT has obtained a score of 2.978 and the entire UBUNTU family a score of 4.021 in short, that Ubuntu is better and has more followers than Linux Shit….

You must be very lonely. When you need to use bad language in a blog about Linux, it means that you are not loved by God.

I don't see the relationship between the kernel, swear words, Oscaron's social skills and God

It is true that the bad words is of more. but what it says with respect to the scores is like this, Ubuntu is third because its flavors are not added something that if they do with the other distros
