The KDE Project today announced the immediate availability of the Fifth and final update in the KDE Plasma 5.14 series, KDE Plasma 5.14.5.
Initially planned for January 1, 2019, KDE Plasma 5.14.5 is here to bring one last round of updates to the series. In total it contains 61 changes around various components such as Plasma Workspace, Plasma NetworkManager, Breeze GTK, Plasma Discover, and Plasma Desktop.
The most exciting new features in this update include a new cursor theme for the Breeze cursor themes, stability improvements for Plasma Discover, better support for the KDE Plasma Comic widget, a larger size for the Info Center, as well as a widget for the improved time.
"Today KDE releases a maintenance update for KDE Plasma 5, number 5.14.5. Plasma 5.14 was released in October with many improvements and new modules to complete the desktop experience. This release adds a month of work that includes translations and fixes from KDE contributors. The arrangements are small but important,”Se mention in the ad.
KDE Plasma 5.15 is coming February 12
KDE Plasma 5.14 is not a Long Term Support (LTS) release, therefore this fifth update marks the end of the life cycle, so there will be no more updates. The next major series of this popular graphical environment, KDE Plasma 5.15, has a release date of February 12 and the beta version will be available on January 17.
Until then, if you are using KDE Plasma 5.14 on any supported distribution, it is recommended to upgrade to Plasma 5.14.5 as soon as the package reaches the stable repositories. The KDE project also released KDE Frameworks 5.53.0 and KDE Applications 18.12, be sure to update them too.
