We are in a new year and we have already passed two-thirds of a quarter, so it was time for a new version of this ethical hacking distribution. Offensive Security launched a few hours ago Kali Linux 2024.1, an update that will not go down in history as a delivery with many new features, as it did, for example, the first version of 2023 with Kali Purple. But there have been changes, and several of them will be seen.
We start with what is perhaps less important, and that is that now we can download Kali images from 32 mirrors or more Micro Mirror servers. With this we will gain download speed, since if the servers that were used until now are slow, we have more options to choose from.
Kali Linux 2024.1 introduces new features in the interface
It is usually in 20xx.1 launches, and the one that took place a few hours ago falls into that group. The changes have reached both the normal version and the Purple, and here are some screenshots because a few images are worth a thousand words:
As for changes to the interface, there are some related to the desktops on which the distribution is.
Updates to Kali NetHunter and tools
Offensive Security has taken over a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and run Kali NetHunter on it. On the other hand, the icons of the NetHunter and NHTerm applications have received tweaks. As for the new tools, this time "only" four have been introduced:
- blue-hydra : Bluetooth device discovery service.
- opentaxii: Implementation of the EclecticIQ TAXII server.
- readpe: Command line tools for manipulating Windows PE files.
- snort : Flexible network intrusion detection system.
Interested users can now obtain the new ISO from their download web page.
