Linux Kernel developer Greg Kroah-Hartman has recently revealed that Linux Kernel 4.19 is the next series with long-term support (LTS).
Now that Linux Kernel 4.17 has reached the end of its cycle and that the recent Linux Kernel 4.18 does not have what it takes to become an LTS version, the long-term support initiative community has announced via Kroah-Hartman that it It will be the next LTS series.
And the choice is Linux Kernel 4.19, which will be supported for at least two years from its first version. At the moment, there are five branches of Linux Kernel with long-term support, Linux 4.14, Linux 4.9, Linux 4.4, as well as Linux 3.16 and Linux 3.18.
We have asked GregKH. Does 4.19 will be next LTS? Answer was YES. LTS version will be end of year release. So it will be 4.19. We expected 4.20 in June but some delay actually happened.
