GOverlay: managing overlays in gaming under Linux

GOverlay

If you are a gamer under Linux and want to configure devices like MangoHud, vkBasalt and ReplaySorcery, then you should stick to the latest version of the software. GOverlay. A program that will help you manage overlays, and that will surely become an essential tool from now on.

For those who still do not know the projects mentioned above, say that HandleHud It is a piece that allows you to show FPS, use of RAM and VRAM, make comparisons, and much more in an on-screen HUD that is constantly displayed in the upper area while you are playing.

kBasalt is another project that allows various effects in video games such as Contrast Adaptive Sharpening, Denoised Luma Sharpening, Fast Approximate Anti-Aliasing, and much more. And the last, Replay Sorcery is a quick and easy function to capture small parts of the game.

Well, with GOverlay, a free and open source app, you can add all your configuration options at the same time in an intelligent way and that they work properly. Also, in the latest version released, 0.5.1 includes some new features and corrections.

Of course, GOverlay works with overlays by creating a GUI both under the Vulkan API and with OpenGL. That expands the support possibilities in terms of graphical APIs in Linux.

As to its Graphic interface, it is quite simple. On the one hand, you will have the vkBasalt, MangoHud and Replay Sourcery tabs that you can select to control all the parameters that appear on the main configuration screen, and see the result in real time in its central area. So you can see how it would look in the video game.

I was making a "version" of this program ( https://github.com/tonehrk/LOverlay ) but I abandoned her almost a year ago. The reason, Goverlay was a hassle to compile (from AUR), it asks to install even an IDE if I remember correctly. In addition there were some things that I did not like ... well. I doubt I will keep it again. XD
But it's not that bad, you can add settings for each game individually. With that, I still prefer my version. : p
