GNOME 3.38.2 arrives with the second round of bug fixes for this series

GNOME 3.38.2

More than a month and a half after the first point update or maintenance, we already have the second here. We are talking about GNOME 3.38.2, and I arrive in the middle of this week. As a point update, it does not introduce very prominent new features, but it does introduce improvements that will make one of the most popular desktops in Linux, which in fact use the default versions of Fedora and Ubuntu, for example, more reliable and improve performance.

Among the new features included, GNOME 3.38.2 improves support for the GNOME OS project, which is not an operating system itself, but an image that we can use to test all the news that the project is working on without having to install them and endanger our default operating system. For that reason, it is recommended to use it in emulation software, such as GNOME Boxes where they have implemented this improved support.

Other What's New in GNOME 3.38.2

Among the novelties that have come along with this version, we have:

  • The GNOME Control Center has been improved, which now correctly detects when Ethernet devices are connected and also supports changes related to the latest UCM on ASLA and PulseAudio sound systems.
  • GNOME Music has received enhancements, such as improved support for retrieving new songs when added to the music directory, updated artist queries to retrieve album art, and improved ordering of the playlist so it no longer crashes.
  • Nautilus has added PATH search support for Tracker 3, fixes crashes and closures in the batch rename dialog, and fixes double-click row checking.

GNOME 3.38.2 It is now available, but it is recommended to stay in the version that uses the distribution that we are using. As for the applications, some of them are already available in Flatub.
