Forza Horizon 5 is one of the latest titles that have come out for lovers of driving simulation. A video game with truly amazing gameplay and state-of-the-art graphics. However, it is not available for Linux. Until now, this video game could not be played, as was the case with Age Of Empires 4, and many others for other platforms.
Instead, you can now play Forza Horizon 5 on your Linux distribution, to test what they have been doing from Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios. And all, once again, thanks to Valve and its Proton project. This derivative of the WINE compatibility layer with improvements for native Steam video games for Windows, has now reached a new version (exp) released on November 11.
It should work well on both AMD and NVIDIA GPUs, although it is still in an experimental state, so some things remain to be polished, such as multiplayer, which does not work well now. However, you can already try and enjoy it, and the developers of Valve and CodeWeavers who work at Proton are not going to stop there. Improvements are coming so that Forza Horizon 5 can be played as well as on its native platform.
To be able to test it now, you can follow these so simple steps and fast, without the need for commands or anything like that:
- Then in your Steam client on your Linux distro.
- Find the Experimental Proton and install it if you haven't already.
- Right click on the game and go to Properties.
- Select the Compatibility menu on the right side.
- Check that the option "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" is checked.
- Finally, in the drop-down box that appears, select Proton Experimental.
- You can now play Forza Horizon 5, previously purchased on Steam.
- To play!
