Elon Musk just loaded Twitter. Not seriously

Twitter is renamed X

Twitter has ceased to exist. Or it will in the next few weeks. Elon Musk has changed the name and logo of the social network, which has now been called only X. For months we could read in the service conditions area and others that it was an X Corp. company, and now the plan is to kill all the birds. They are still in some corners of the social network, but they will end up disappearing.

Musk's plans were clear from the start. One of them seemed to be ending censorship, and the rest went through earn money with one of the most used social networks in the world together with Facebook and Instagram, among others. Since he bought the company, our tech articles have featured a lot about the network or the mogul who bought it, and not always to say something nice. Diego says that Musk is right, and I that, without being a great economist, time will tell.

Twitter changes its name, and we must expect more changes

If we find out in the future that Twit…X becomes profitable, Musk, as an entrepreneur, will undoubtedly have been proven right from the start. What he started by buying what now called X It was a long-distance race, and in this type of race, results are not expected after the starting gun. These start to show later, but the move that is in the news today should be seen as the first serious turning point.

In previous months it was created TwitterBlue, which at the time of writing this article continues with the same name, which was a blue badge that could be obtained by subscription. Later, and not long ago, advertising skyrocketed in our timeline, showing an ad every 4-5 Tweets. The new name should be the start of another Musk plan: turning the social network into something much more powerful with encrypted messages and calls, among other things.

x.com redirects to social network

Musk bought long ago x.com, and now he is putting it to use. If we click on the previous link we will go to the current Twitter, but it is not known for how long. Most likely, in the coming weeks it will do the reverse, that is, that twitter.com will redirect to its new home, x.com. It is true that this is speculation by the author of this article, who, although it seems logical to him, is not a specialist in the management of large companies.

so twitter will disappear to make way for something different. For now we can expect mobile applications to change the logo in any update. The real changes will start to come later, and we will see if the billionaire tries to fix what is not broken, if he breaks something that works or creates some kind of new golden goose.

User response

On the social network, at least in Spain at the time of writing this article, there is a hashtag #TwitterX commenting on the play, and another trend with more activity that is simply The X. It seems that users do not give much importance to what is happening, and there is only talk of a name change. There are also others who have designed an X-shaped bird logo, but I don't think Musk plans to continue using birds.

When the purchase was made, many opened an account at Mastodon, and there are projects, such as elementary OS, that have stopped writing in X. But now the same atmosphere is not breathed. The waters have calmed down and we have continued to make the same use as before. What we do have to expect are functions that are very different from the current ones, and also what I have read around: a new way of saying what we are doing because we will no longer be able to use “tweeting”.

I think there are more questions than answers, and we will discover them all over time.
