Debian 9.0 Stretch begins its development stage

Debian 9.0 (codenamed Stretch) begins development. Debian is one of the most important GNU / Linux distributions and it has a huge development community behind it and a lot of work. It is the base of distributions as important as Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Kali Linux and many more. Its development is constant, although its launches are slow.

After the successful release of the version Debian 8.0Now it's time to focus on the next stage that improves the current Jessie. As you can see, for a long time the code names of Debian versions have names of characters from the animated film Toy Story from Disney Pixar (Buzz, Rex, Bo, Hamm, Slink, Potato, Woody, Sarge, Etch, Lenny, Squeeze, Wheezy and Jessie).

Stretch will be the new name of the Debian 9.0 version and as we already announced in this blog, Debian 10 also has a name already, Buster. But this is still several years away, now it's time to enjoy the fantastic work of Debian 8.0 and hope that Debian 9.0 is just as amazing.

By the way, Stretch is the name of an octopus appearing as a character in one of the Toy Story movies. It is a purple rubber toy in the shape of an octopus that appears in the nursery from the movie Toy Story 3.
