The Ubuntu 23.10 wallpaper changes depending on the chosen theme. What if I prefer it as before?

Ubuntu 23.10, light background with dark theme

In the absence of confirmation in the stable version, new in Ubuntu 23.10: The wallpaper will no longer be purple with raised borders and the image of the pet. Or it won't be if the dark theme is used. The novelty itself is that the wallpaper will change depending on the chosen theme: purple if the light theme is used and the version with gray tones if the dark theme is used.

This is something we have seen in many other distributions and many themes. There is a wallpaper that has its opposite version, and changes from one to another depending on whether we choose the light or dark theme. That less popular distributions do it does not attract as much attention, but that Ubuntu does it with its default wallpaper and in GNOME it is striking.

Ubuntu 23.10 will arrive on October 12

I wouldn't want to continue without making one thing clear: this is now the case in the development version. Knowing that they were going to update the funding package soon, I decided to check it out on my Mantic Minotaur, I have seen that it was updated and the gray background has appeared. If I change the theme, purple appears. And what do I do if I don't like this change? Hum... it's time to make the manual change, and the result will be the same as always, as shown in the header screenshot.

All you have to do is go to wallpaper settings, add a new one, navigate to / usr / share / backgrounds and choose purple or dark wallpaper, depending on our preferences. Unlike the default, which shows the split image, implying that it will change depending on the theme, when choosing the image manually it will appear completely with one color, and it will not matter what theme we are using; it will stay that way.

Ubuntu 23.10 will arrive with this novelty, GNOME 45 and Linux 6.5 on October 12.
