Phosh is a graphical user interface designed for mobile and touch devices.
The launch of the new version of Phosh 0.37 was announced, the shell that was originally developed by Purism as an analogue of GNOME Shell for the Librem 5 smartphone, but later became part of the unofficial GNOME projects.
In the new version that is presented of Phosh 0.37 A large number of changes and improvements have been integrated, of which the introduction of the PhoshWifiNetwork class. This class allows you to group WiFi access points according to their SSID, encryption type and mode, which facilitates more efficient management of wireless networks. In addition, a function has been added to obtain the name of the WiFi icon corresponding to the connection strength and status, improving the visualization of connectivity in the user interface.
In Phosh version 0.37, a Significant improvement allowing users to select wireless networks directly from the quick settings drop-down panel. This capability simplifies managing Wi-Fi connections and speeds up the process of switching between available networks.
Another notable improvement is the possibility to implement new quick configurations using plugins. In addition to these improvements, plugins can now use some internal Phosh components, providing greater flexibility and functionality to extensions developed for this environment.
Quick settings have also been added to activate or deactivate the screen saver and to enter sleep mode during specific activities, providing finer control over power management and user privacy.
In phosh-mobile, improvements have been made significant in the user experience, since it has been improved the design of the favorite applications list- Improved selecting an audio file when setting feedback and the ability to add a filter to the application list has been added.
The improvements made to the Phosh code are also highlighted, since, for example, improved screenshot by preventing the screen from going into power saving mode during capture, as well as A new layout has been provided for the keyboard on the lock screen, allowing switching between different keypads on the lock screen (and by extension the call screen) and adjustments made to the call preview being resized and the logic for handling “No Service” on the call preview.
Of the other changes that stand out of this new version:
- The Phoc composite server uses the wlr_render_pass extension and the Wayland fractional-scale-v1 protocol and allows customization of output scaling parameters.
- The squeekboard on-screen keyboard has been updated to version 1.23.0.
- Supported loading of background images in asynchronous mode.
- Implements a new keyboard layout called "numeric".
- Screenshot related issues have been fixed.
- Improved Compatibility with WWAN Networks in obtaining the operator name.
- Adjustments have been made to the names of functions and libraries used for faster and more efficient compilation.
- Necessary dependencies have been secured in build files.
- The representation of the scale of the screen has been removed.

How to install Phosh?
