LPlayer, a minimalist player for those who just want to listen to music

Not long ago we talked to you about Music players for use on Gnu / Linux. We must also say that any Gnu / Linux distribution offers a music player as well as a word processor.

In this case we are going to tell you about LPlayer, a minimalist and lightweight multimedia player It works perfectly on low-resource computers (and also on high-resource computers). LPlayer works in any distribution but we have to say that it can only be installed in distributions that are based on Ubuntu, on Linux Mint or in Ubuntu.LPlayer is a minimalist player created by Atareao. It is a free and open player that has basic options and aims to satisfy users who only want to listen to music and podcasts. LPlayer works like the old WinAmp, i.e. we create lists of files and the player plays it at the speed we want, with the bass and treble that we want thanks to its equalizer, and / or eliminates the blank spaces between audio and audio.

This player supports the main audio formats: Mp3, M4a, Flac and Ogg. These formats are the most popular among podcasts and music songs.

LPlayer uses MRPIS which makes us use this extension for Gnome and connect the player with the desktop. In the case of Cinnamon, such an extension is not necessary and it connects directly to the desktop.

We can install LPlayer through the ppa repository of task, for this we open a terminal and write the following:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:atareao/lplayer
sudo apt update
sudo apt install lplayer

If we want to install it in another distribution we must have high knowledge and go to github repository de Atareao where we will find the code. We can also contact the creator of LPlayer and request its export to other distributions. In any case, for those looking for simplicity, LPlayer is a great option, better than other fuller and heavier ones like Amarok or Rhythmbox.

It has some bugs and sadly based on its Github repository it seems that its development has stalled :(
