Haven, As you may already know, it is the famous application that Eduard Snowden has presented and developed with the Guardian Project in collaboration with the Free Press Foundation. The app is open source, completely free, but so are the libraries that have been used to create this project. You can see the source code from the page you have in GitHub in case you are interested, but it is also possible to download it directly from the Google Play Store on your Android tablet or smartphone, since the Haven app has been released in its Beta period in said application store so that we can all enjoy it.
This FOSS project, which at the moment does not cost a penny, since it is available for download completely free, can convert our Android device in an entire security complex taking advantage of the hardware of our device to carry out surveillance tasks. Everything that is collected is saved locally, without rare reports of information to third parties as reported by its creators. And what type of information does it record, well, it is the following:
- Accelerometer: You can use our device's sensor to record movement and vibrations.
- Camera: detects movement captured by the rear and front cameras.
- Microphone: transforms into a noise detector and records them.
- Light sensor: in this case it will detect changes in ambient light.
- Power system: it will detect whether or not the device is connected to a power outlet.
And all that for what? Well, the Haven app is going to transform our device into a good "surveillance station" to protect our personal spaces without compromising our own privacy, monitoring our environment and recording data only locally as I have said, with encryption, and capable of alerting in case something happens. Therefore, it is best to dedicate an old device that we no longer use exclusively for it ...
Very interesting, it can be very useful
