Command & Conquers: Tiberian Sun, an old acquaintance returning to Linux

Command and Conquers Tiberian Sun, Linux

Command & Conquers Tiberian Sun is an old title of one of the most legendary strategy video games of the 90s, along with Dune 2000. This project came out of Westwood Studios, and would appear in 1999. A series of titles that were very successful and with multiple releases, but perhaps Tiberian Sun became the most beloved by all.

Well, what if I told you that now you can play with this title again from your Linux distro? Well yes, now you have it available in app stores like Ubuntu Software, in a snap package and doing use of WINE so that this real-time strategy video game can run smoothly on a GNU / Linux system. Just install the package quickly, run, wait for some packages to download, choose the language to install in, wait for it to install, follow the installation wizard as you would in Windows, and play (during the process you will have to run the app installed multiple times) ...

You also have at your disposal a package similar to this one, but with Red Alert, another installment of the Command & Conquers saga. A less popular title than Tiberian Sun and one that received some criticism, especially for its interface. Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge is also available. This completes a total of 3 of these strategy video games for the most fanatical of the saga.

Going back to Command & Conquers Tiberian Sun, for those who are younger and do not know it, say that it is a strategy video game where you will have to create your own city, defend it, and harvest the precious Tiberium. To do this, you can choose three different factions, such as the GDI (Global Defense Initiative), the brotherhood of the NOD. Although there is also The Forgotten, they are not eligible to play with, and they are a neutral faction of mutants affected physically and mentally by the Tiberium.

The plot of this saga continues with the leader of the NOD, Kane, left for dead. But it reappears from his hiding place With an improved military force and new technologies, determined to rule the whole world. GDI Commander Michael McNeil is tasked with preventing the world from falling into the hands of NOD.
