If you are one of those who likes to have your files in the cloud to be able to access them at any time from any device you will know the most popular services like Dropbox, One Drive, Box, Mega, Google Drive, etc. This time I will focus on one of them that Google Drive.

Google Drive is the cloud storage solution that Google offers us, which offers us 15gb free to store our most important files. Google drive you don't have a Linux client so it is not yet an option for many users.

Faced with this problem different unofficial clients have emerged, which offer a series of quite peculiar characteristics.

In this case I will talk about Insync which is a Google Drive client, this offers us the possibility of being able use the application for 15 days for free.

The paid version is only for 30 USDIt is a single payment, there is no more, there are no monthly payments. So it is an excellent option that offers us all the features that Google Drive offers us from the web.

Within the features of Insync we find:

  • Multiple accounts
  • Convert Google Docs to Office
  • Convert to OpenDocument
  • Symbolic link, junction, and aliases
  • External and network drives
  • Desktop Notifications
  • Revert read-only files
  • File changes feed
  • Desktop interface
  • Command line for Linux
  • Preserve directory structure
  • Ignore list
  • Excellent support
  • Install Insync on Linux

Download Insync

The Google Drive client offers us the possibility of being able to install the application in different Linux distributionsAll we have to do is go to their website and choose Linux in the download section.

By doing this, it will display a menu where we will choose our distribution and provide us with the indicated package for it, within which we find Ubuntu, Arch Linux, Fedora, Raspeberry.

And it is not only limited to distributions we can also integrate it to a file manager like nautilus, dolphin, nemo, etc.

It's cool, I use it. But the multi-account does not apply for the payment of 30 usd, it is only for one. If you want to add more accounts, you have to pay more.

Regularly at the end of the year they give away licenses, so be careful if they do not give you to pay for the license.

(And Google, embarrassing that at this point and without a Linux client: https://abevoelker.github.io/how-long-since-google-said-a-google-drive-linux-client-is-coming/)

    A greeting.

Well, I have not been able to install the trial version. And I have sent an email to Insync explaining this and they answer me that if I have synchronization activated (!?). They don't know! If this is the support they give to customers, we are fixed
