Did you buy a PineTab? Arm yourself with patience: your shipments are delayed by a week, but for good reason

pinetab

How long the wait is getting. Due to a problem with the PinePhones, PINE64 decided not to open the reserves of its pinetab until a couple of weeks later. On June 10, the company already It allowed us reserve your tablet, but I think that not even the most pessimistic would have imagined that they would have to wait almost three months to enjoy their toy. And so it will be, just as announced a few hours ago.

PINE64 is glad that your PineTab manufacturing went very well, but they ran into a small software problem: originally, they had included a driver for LCD panel It was close to its EOL version, that is, near the end of its life cycle, so in the end they decided to include a newer one. This will result in a new delay that, although the dates seem long, they have not changed much.

The PineTab delays your arrival by a week

To be more specific, the delay will be only one week. The problem is that that week will be added to what they had programmed, which was already about two months after the opening of the reserves. Therefore, PINE64 estimates that PineTab will begin shipping between August 17 and 21. We must also bear in mind that the arrival time will have to be added to that date, so I am already beginning to think that I will have my PineTab at the beginning of September, being optimistic if I think that they are sent from Hong Kong.

On the other hand, the company also tells us that the UBports developers have been working to make everything work perfectly on the PINE64 tablet, in part adding functions that are already present in the PinePhone. Among them we will have the updates via OTA.

So be patient. In the end, I think it will be worth having a tablet that will allow us to do special things, such as installing different mobile operating systems based on Linux and using desktop apps like GIMP.

As I do not see it anywhere, I wonder if the OS of both tablets and smartphones can be put in Spanish.

I also wonder about the keyboards, I have not seen more than in English both from the US and from Great Britain.

It is a variant of Ubuntu which has been pre-installed, and it is multi-lingual both the OS and the applications - for the most part -.

Whether or not the physical keyboard carries the Ñ will be seen when it arrives, but the virtual keyboard does.

PS: OTA updates (over the air) What do you mean? because being their only WiFi connectivity sudo apt-get upgrade && sudo apt-get update or the update order they have - I haven't used ubuntu for a long time and I think now it's just "apt" - it was "over the air",

I understand that it implies that instead of package by package the heart of the "core" system as a whole is updated in a meta file from which all packages are extracted, but I still misunderstand it.
