Xfce 4.14 is here, here's what's new

With almost four years of development behind him, this weekend finally The final version of the expected XFCE 4.14 graphical environment has arrived.

Xfce 4.14 is the latest stable version of this lightweight graphical environment and sees all its essential components updated to GTK3, support for the GObject library, and many improvements and bug fixes.

The Xfce 4.14 desktop now has Vsync support, works better with HIDPI monitors, and takes advantage of XInput2. Also, it comes with better integration with proprietary Nvidia drivers and brings a new default theme.

There is a new task list extension available for the Xfce control panel and there is now an indicator for grouped windows along with a new panel icon size setting and a new default clock format.

Now the session manager xfce-session it lets you add and edit autostart entries, shows a new "switch user" button in the logout window, and the session selector gets quite a few cool changes as well.

How to get Xfce 4.14?

Unlike many other applications, getting the latest version of Xfce 4.14 is a bit tricky due to all the components being modified.

Xfce 4.14 is coming with Xubuntu 19.10, which has an October release date.

But if you want to try this new version now, you have to use a virtual desktop or have one of the distributions with the "Rolling release" model such as Arch Linux or Manjaro, both will have this desktop available in the coming days.
