WSL seems to be more consistent than Windows 11. What a surprise, isn't it?

WSL in Windows 11

This news that I read in the middle Windows Report It has made me have a Déjà vu. About fifteen years ago now, a friend and my mentor in Linux convinced me to try Ubuntu in a virtual machine within Windows, and I was impressed that Linux performed better than the system it was hosted on. Now many users say that WSL it is more consistent than Windows 11 itself, although we have to be fair and tell all the details as they are.

Windows 11 was launched on October 5, so we are facing an operating system that does not even have 72 hours to live. Yes, it has been testing for months, but the stable version has just been released. If I have had that feeling of "I have already lived this" it is because WSL is the acronym for Windows Subsystem for Linux, which is to execute Linux within Windows 10+, just as I did with, I think I remember, VMware Workstation.

WSL brings out the colors of Windows 11 ... for now

Just today, a friend told me that her son installed Windows 11 and "messed it up", although she has not told me exactly what happened to him. It is known that many users are running into bugs, such as slower connections or that the PC may "brick" (crash with bad solution), but these are problems that are experienced separately. When you talk about consistency, you talk about something in general, and Windows 11 is not consistent.

That WSL is more consistent than Windows 11 I think is for two reasons. The first is that Linux is more consistent because many of the applications used in WSL are GTK, so the applications all have a similar design. The second is that Microsoft has yet to polish its latest big release, something that, although I do not use it, I hope they will be doing as the days / weeks go by. Otherwise it would be surprising and very disappointing.

In addition to the image, Windows 11 is now quite "buggy", not to be worse and say that it fails more than a fairground shotgun. The mouse, applications that have no sound ... Not very reliable, and from here we recommend waiting a while before updating. Or go to Linux (wink wink, elbow elbow).

Let's look at all the movements made from Windows 8 to the present day. How little memory we can have! For that is the magnificent series of articles that you have published, to refresh the memory and / or awaken the conscience. That said, the Windows user should decide whether to enter the dynamics of this company and become hostage to its whims, or to open up to other fields. I have never been interested in updating my Windows 10 to 11, because I was in a 2019 LTSC Enterprise with support for 10 years (which in the next update before the end of the year they will leave in 5 years). If I do not accept all this practice, why continue my work until 2016 or 2017 on a platform that does not inspire confidence, that disgusts me and that I will eventually abandon? In my case, I have found all the software I need for my day to day life, even to work with digital cartography; I have it all covered. If I had waited five or six more years, all the work would have gone to hell and it would have been slow agony. A few months ago I switched to GNU / Linux and my PC is running Debian Stable and I couldn't be happier.

    Greetings.
