WPS Office for Linux is updated and includes a new image

WPS Office

Since I have memory usage, the reference for office suites is Microsoft Office. In Linux we have LibreOffice or OpenOffice, but sometimes we are faced with incompatibilities that make opening an Office document in LibreOffice change some of the content. In addition, many people are used to the interface of Microsoft's proposal and that is one of the reasons for being WPS Office, an Office clone from the company that Satya Nadella runs

The new version is v11.1.0.8372 and it comes with interesting news. Among them, special mention to the new image, and not because this is something that will add functions to the software, but because the visual changes are the first thing we notice as soon as we open an application. The new image (the one at the top of this article) is flatter than the previous one, as you can see in the following screenshot. This gives us the impression that we are dealing with more modern software, since most of the programs that exist today in any operating system have a flatter design than five years ago or more.

What's New in WPS Office 11.1.0.8372

  • New skins in the applications.
  • Easier access to recently opened documents and templates.
  • Integrated browser.
  • Support for SVG and QR images.
  • Font size preview.
  • New navigation panel.
  • Function of substituting fonts.
  • Improved export to PDF.

Keep in mind that WPS Office is developed by Kingsoft Office, a China company. Its office suite is available in Chinese, French, English, Japanese, Vietnamese, German, Portuguese and Spanish, but its information notes are not translated. For this reason, since it is a translation, it is not very clear what they mean by the new "built-in browser" function. It probably means that the links present in the documents that we open with WPS Office can be opened.

If you are interested in using WPS Office you can download it from this link. Yes, do not assume that the compatibility will be 100% with documents created with Microsoft Office. If this is what you need, I recommend working using the free editor available at office.com.

Have you tried WPS Office? How about?

WPS Office seems like a good option to consider in these times. I've used it for a long time but it didn't quite convince me, maybe now is a good time to take a look. Another suite that in my opinion is good is SoftMaker Office, because its default file formats are the same as Office's; which is a plus. The only downside is that it is paid, although you can try it for free and see how it works.

Wow, I think I sounded like an infomercial ...

WPS looks great to me, I've used it for quite some time in Ubuntu and it works like a charm. I have also tried libreoffice, however WPS is lighter and has better performance. His new version is hairy.
