When we talk about emulation software, there are many improvements and tweaks that can be included, but none are as important as when one of the engines you trust is updated. WINE uses some to improve compatibility with games that theoretically can only run on Windows, and WINE 8.9 has updated an engine that simulates technology that is designed to work on windows operating systems.
WINE 8.9, which succeeds the previous development version 8.8, arrives with him Mono engine updated to version 8.0.0. This engine is the one that is in charge of running the software that depends on Microsoft's .NET Framework, which is why it is the most outstanding novelty of WINE 8.9. The other changes WineHQ found worth noting are the completion of PE conversion in the PostScript driver, support for Doppler shift in DirectSound, and GdiPlus performance improvements, along with the usual point of fix for several errors.
In all, WINE 8.9 has introduced 287 changes.
Bugs fixed in WINE 8.9
- BC3000 – Horribly Slow.
- Silverlight 5.x requires the "Audio Capture Filter" to record from the microphone.
- The .netCore application cannot bind to a port shortly after another .netCore program bound to the same port has finished.
- WINE Notepad : Using the Japanese input method (IM), sometimes the cursor backtracks when converting the string.
- touhou 12.3 with dpad mod crashes on startup.
- Need For Speed Underground has keyboard issues.
- Battle.net unimplemented function called msauddecmft.dll.DllGetClassObject in 32-bit code.
- WINE 8.7 and 8.8 does not print.
- Dotted files are shown – but the “do not show dotted files” option is enabled.
- Battle.net crashes with unimplemented function msmpeg2vdec.dll.DllGetClassObject.
- Framemaker 8 crashes when printing.
- winhttp:winhttp – test_websocket() fails on Windows and WINE.
- Rich Edit erroneously moves the cursor to the end of the text when the system IME composition completes.
- armv7 ELF builds crash from "ntdll: Support extended machine parameter in NtMapViewOfSectionEx()".
- Mono/.Net assemblies fail to start: The application could not be started, or there is no application associated with the specified file.
- The Visio 2003 print dialog displays broken paper sizes when printing.
