WINE 8.0.1 stable arrives with improvements for Apple Silicon and fixing 36 bugs

WINE 8.0.1

Although we are more used to releases every two weeks, those are development. The previous stable version was v8.0, and WineHQ launched us WINE 8.0.1, another stable one that fixes bugs for those who prefer to stay in the most reliable version and not those in which hundreds of tweaks are introduced every two weeks. The number of changes in the versions of the "stable" channel is less, but no less important.

In releases like the one that took place today, they also tell us about fewer outstanding points, only two on this occasion, to which is added the third of various corrections. WINE 8.0.1 adds fixes for macOS Ventura on Apple Silicon and updated Turkish and Tamil translations. They have also introduced a total of 78 changes, with 36 bugs fixed.

WINE 8.0.1 can be downloaded from this link. In the download page there are instructions on how to install this and other versions on operating systems like Linux, but also on macOS and Android.

As for when the next version will arrive, if my memory serves me correctly, only a maintenance update of the previous stable version was released, staying at 7.0.1. Or yes, my memory or attention failed me, since has been launched a more recent one just a month ago. What we can assure you is that WINE 8.7 will arrive next Friday, a new development update that will introduce hundreds of changes to prepare the next major stable that will be released in 2024.
