Like every other Friday in this phase of development, WineHQ ad on the night of yesterday, July 1, the availability of WINE 7.12. As two weeks ago, we are facing an update that does not contribute much, neither in terms of the number of corrections nor in terms of outstanding functions. Almost a month ago now they updated the Mono engine at least, but in these last two development versions, well, we will say that they are following natural evolutions, but timid.
As for what was introduced, they have corrected 13 bugs, but looking further down we see that added a total of 266 changes. The average is between 200 and 400, but I would say that it is usually above 300 changes. Anything below that can be considered a "weak" update, and that's what we've had this week. What you have next is what WineHQ has considered worthy to be highlighted among the rest of the new features of WINE 7.12.
WINE 7.12 Highlights
It has been highlighted theme support for Qt5 applications, that the included vkd3d has been bumped up to v1.4, that Direct2D effect support and QWORD support in registry tools have been improved, ending the list with the usual "various bug fixes". Nothing really noteworthy, but progress is being made to improve support when running Windows apps on other platforms.
WINE 7.12 available from this link, and for the second week in a row we don't see that second link they used to provide, but didn't work. In the download page there is information on how to install this and other versions on operating systems such as Debian and Ubuntu, but it can also be installed on Android and macOS.
The next version will be a WINE 7.13 coming July 15. We don't know how many changes they'll introduce in two weeks, but it should be a couple of hundred or more.
