WINE 6.4 introduces improvements to the DTLS protocol and hundreds of common fixes

WINE 6.4

If there is something that is as timely as the releases of Linux kernel versions by Linux Torvalds, that is without a doubt the development versions of the software that allows us to run Windows applications on Linux and other operating systems. Thus, after the v6.3 from last week, WineHQ just launched WINE 6.4, a new release of those that arrive every two weeks with many new features.

Specifically, WINE 6.4 introduces a total of 38 corrections, but if we look below, where they detail more information, we can see that they have made 397 changes. This is above an average does not usually reach 300 changes, but it is also true that the first versions of development do receive more love. Below you have the list of news that WineHQ has considered important enough to stand out from the rest.

WINE 6.4 highlights

  • Support for the DTLS protocol.
  • Font set support in DirectWrite.
  • Dialog for editing Access Control entries.
  • Theme support for some of the more common controls.
  • Support for Korean Wansung encoding.
  • Various bug fixes

Interested users can now install WINE 6.4 from its source code, available in this y this other link, or from binaries that can be downloaded from here. In the link from where we can download the binaries there is also information to add the official project repository to receive this and other future updates as soon as they are ready for systems like Ubuntu / Debian or Fedora, but there are also versions for Android and macOS .

The next development version will be WINE 6.5 and, if there are no surprises, which I dare to advance that will not happen seeing how punctual they are in WineHQ, it will arrive on March 26. Among what you will introduce, the only thing we can assure you is that will come with hundreds of small improvements and corrections as usual.
