WINE 6.14 arrives with Mono 6.3.0 and 260 changes in total

WINE 6.14 Staging The previous version of WINE Staging I arrive On an unusual day, on Tuesday, and, with the punctuality of its developers, anyone could wonder what had happened. The answer was simple: it is summer and we all stop for a while. After that mini-delay, WineHQ launched a few hours ago WINE 6.14, which is a new Staging version ideal for those who want all the news sooner, but it is not a stable version.

WineHQ says they have fixed 30 bugs, and have introduced a total of 260 changes. On the list of highlights there is one that stands out above the rest: the Mono engine, which makes applications compatible with Microsoft's .NET Framework, has been updated to version 6.3.0.

WINE 6.14 Staging highlights

  • Mono engine updated to version 6.3.0, with upstream updates.
  • 32-> 64 bit thunks implemented in the WOW64 dll.
  • More prep work for the GDI syscall interface.
  • Various bug fixes.

Interested users can now install WINE 6.14 Staging from its source code, available in is y this other link, or from binaries that can be downloaded from here!. In the link from where we can download the binaries there is also information to add the official project repository to receive this and other future updates as soon as they are ready for systems like Ubuntu / Debian or Fedora, but there are also versions for Android and macOS . The project allows us to choose the branch between stable, development or Dev and Staging. If we want to take advantage of the latest changes, we have to choose Staging, but taking into account that it is not a stable version.

The next Staging version will be WINE 6.15, and will arrive next Friday, August 13. Taking into account that we are in summer and that this week they have been between 200 and 300 changes, it is probably another version that will not break records.
