We already have Kernel 4.14.1 here

Tux with Matrix code

After the recent release of Kernel 4.14, your first review has finally arrived and therefore its first version considered 100% stable. Version 4.14.1 is now available for download and installation, something many of you have been waiting for.

The kernel 4.14.x series It has been highly anticipated by all, since, it is the first Linux Kernel to have the 6 year support, something that we already advanced here a couple of months ago. In this way, we are facing the most stable and secure version of the Kernel to date, suitable to install and "take it easy" for 6 years.

Version 4.14.1, It is considered the first stable version of the 4.14 series. x. This is due to the security policy of the kernels, which leave the first version (in this case 4.14), as unstable. This is because sometimes, small security flaws can creep in due to meeting deadlines and therefore, it is recommended not to install the first version of the series in development environments for security.

However, version .1, in this case 4.14.1, is already considered fully stable. This will allow us to enjoy this Kernel, which in addition to including a long-term support, also improves AMD memory encryption security, improved graphics card memory management and an increase in the memory limit on processors with x86 architecture.

In addition, compression capacity on Btrfs and SquashFS systems has been improved, using the zstd system. In addition, other small improvements have been introduced, the drivers have been updated and the bugs detected in previous versions have been corrected. Version 4.14.1 has hardly changed compared to 4.14, but its output has served to guarantee the stability of this version.

Version 4.14.1 will be added to the repositories of various distributions, especially the Rolling Releases. However, we can download it as always in Kernel.org and compile it manually in our favorite distribution.
