VirtualBox 6.1.18: new version with support for Linux 5.10 LTS

VirtualBox

Oracle has released the new version of its open source, cross-platform virtualization software. Its about VirtualBox 6.1.18, a maintenance release with some interesting updates and improvements. And it comes after three months after the release of 6.1.16, three months in which its developers have worked hard to polish the software and offer this small leap forward.

This new version of VirtualBox becomes the first to have full support for the latest kernel series, Linux 5.10LTS. So, if you are interested in this version, you already know that this new VirtualBox is what you were looking for. But that support is not the only thing that has come new to VirtualBox 6.1.18, there are more improvements ...

It also adds compatibility improvements with CentOS 8.2-2004 and later versions of this distro, as well as support improvements for distros that use Linux kernels 3.2.0 to 3.2.50. Likewise, the virtual machine segfault error that occurred during copy / paste operations when using the shared clipboard on the X11 graphical server has been corrected.

VirtualBox 6.1.18 has its function Shared folder working better than in previous versions, since a bug that happened to Linux users when trying to mount the folder on the Linux guest has been corrected.

Of course, they have also solved problems with audio playback, problems when the host system goes to sleep, improvements in network parameters, etc. So, if you were using a previous version of VirtualBox and those glitches happened, you no longer have to worry about them.

If you are interested, you already know what it is totally free, and you can download it from the official website that I show you below. There it is available for different platforms and you can also download the extension, etc.

It will be that no, the previous 6.1.16 already had support for kernel 5.10, this new version is not the first to support it, since I have 6.1.16 with kernel 5.10 working perfectly for a long time. So wrong news.
