Valve could be working on a new version of the Steam Controller

Steam Controller

Some English media are speculating and rumored with a possible update of the famous Valve controller. And it is that the company could be working on a second version to update your Steam Controller. A second generation of this type of controller could excite many gamers. In its day, many saw the new video game controller as a great novelty, although it has also been criticized by other sectors.

Maybe a new update would bring some improvements for the new times of gaming. If the rumor, since it has not yet been confirmed, is true, without a doubt it will be interesting to know the characteristics of the Steam Controller. And if you wonder about the foundation of this rumor, the truth is that it comes from the PCGamesN medium, which recently included a video on its YouTube channel called Critical Input. In the video it appears that a patent registration was made last December.

The record was from a device with a significantly different design of batteries and other novelties. In the patent there is also a mention of force-sensitive resistors, which generate a resistance depending on the pressure you apply on the knob. After a few months of that, it is possible that Valve already has it quite advanced and that it could soon be using it in the first tests.

Although it is not confirmed, it seems quite evident that some product they are thinking of launching. Remember that patent records are usually a good source to detect manufacturers' movements in advance. Maybe also related to their virtual reality systems? We don't know, at the moment they are just rumors. But as soon as there is something clear, we will comment on it here in LxA and I hope it will be very soon. Also, surely Steam Controller 2? it will be compatible with Linux.
