UOS, the Chinese distro based on Deepin with which they intend to replace Windows

Uos

Since the start of the trade war between China and the United States, the people of China began to adopt a movement incitement to use of local technologies, In addition, since the previous year, government administrations had received instructions to eliminate all hardware and software designed abroad within a period of 3 years.

Therefore, initiatives around the establishment of a national operating system are increasing and with it unified operating system unveiled Linux to which they have called "UOS", which is based on Deepin. In fact, the first stable version of UOS Linux has been available since January and corresponds to the twentieth version of Deepin.

WOW, is the result of the acquisition of Wuhan Deepin Technology (the company behind Deepin Linux) by Union Tech, a joint venture that brings together Chinese state-owned companies with Wuhan Deepin Technology.

It is known that Linux is struggling to prevail on the desktop and it is precisely on this observation that those responsible for UOS Linux have focused their development.

Union Tech group fixes a number of flaws which are known to be part of the reasons why Linux cannot establish itself in the field of desktop operating systems. With the release of UOS Linux (or Deepin Linux v20), the publisher ensures that the operating system is compatible with processors from local manufacturers such as Longsoon and Sunway.

The maneuver aims to ensure that the latter is installed on computers equipped with such processors and delivered to users.

Union Tech presume system boot times to be up to 30 seconds on these platforms. In addition, the group announces partnerships with companies such as Huawei to see the operating system installed by default on their laptops.

The strategy aims to make the operating system more popular domestically and with an approach that could have positive results for the operating system on a global scale.

This is, in any case, what the developers behind the move hope to show that China can also export good operating systems.

According to Union Tech, the operating system meets daily needs on the desktop, even if it is not compatible with many professional software.

“The national operating system is almost ready. It is not a 100% replacement yet, but it already meets the essential needs of the user. Its adoption will be part of a gradual process, "said Liu Wenhan, general manager of Union Tech.

Simply put, UOS is a commercial Linux distribution in China. The main development work is done by the Deepin team and the relationship between UOS and Deepin is like that of Fedora and Redhat RHEL.

So basically Deepin is a community edition and it will not be replaced by UOS, which is only used for commercial purposes.

The UOS and Deepin V20 systems are developed in parallel and most of the functions and resource libraries are the same. UOS is based on Deepin system, so Deepin system will get some feature updates earlier and UOS updates will be slower but will get full commercial support.

Finally, it is also important to note that this system is not the only one that is being proposed in the Chinese territory since last year China Standard Software Co., Ltd and Tianjin Kylin Information Ltd. Co (two Chinese software publishers with known ties to the government) They have come together with the same goal: to create a national operating system.

Tianjin Kylin Information Ltd. Co is the creator of Kylin, an operating system developed (based on FreeBSD) for the Chinese military and first introduced in 2007 and China Standard Software Co., Ltd for its part is behind NeoKylin, a product from a partnership with the National Defense University Technology.

CS2C and TKC planean create a new company in which they will become investors. It is within the latter that will develop its operating system. The new company will handle the development of the new operating system, technology decisions, marketing, brand management, finance and sales. CS2C and TKC had a verbal agreement on an investment plan.

And why don't they use a generic one and add the modifications of their chips and localization to it. I don't understand their political model. In the end it is business as usual.

Well, if you intend to use DEBIAN deepin as a basis to create a system entirely generated in China, it will give you a little extra work. Reverse engineering for a kernel that is open source and free? Very intelligent or someone has not understood something well (perhaps the menda Lerenda).

On the other hand, 30 seconds of boot does not seem like a feat to me, rather a nuisance in modern hardware.

Either your sources are wrong or the idea and development is the work of Paquirrín ..

    PaquirrinOS rules!
