Ubuntu Zesty Zapus, the next version of Ubuntu that ends the alphabet

Zesty Zapus

Last week Ubuntu presented its new version, the one known as Ubuntu 16.10 Yakkety Yak. A new version that many are already testing but Ubuntu development does not end here. As usual, Mark Shuttleworth has announced the nickname of the next Ubuntu version: Ubuntu 17.04.

In this case, Ubuntu 17.04 nickname will be Zesty Zapus or rather energetic mouse. Although the translations are somewhat confusing and between the variations and the words of Shuttleworth, many still doubt this translation.

But the most interesting thing about this, is not the nickname of Zesty Zapus but the fact that is the last word of the alphabet that Ubuntu uses. Those of you who know and follow the history of Ubuntu, will know that this peculiar distribution nickname their versions with an adjective and the name of an animalBoth the adjective and the animal begin with the same letter and it follows the order of the alphabet.

Zesty Zapus will be the last Ubuntu animal, or maybe not?

When the alphabet was going to be finished, many warned and They asked for Ubuntu to become a rolling release, but the Community refused, something that could change after Ubuntu 17.04 as alternatives to this tradition that attracts so much attention to Ubuntu users are not yet contemplated.

The charismatic leader of Ubuntu has warned that although it all started as a project of many users, now Ubuntu makes the Gnu / Linux user do things faster and more efficiently, with great energy, as if it were a zesty zapus. I like the nickname of the new Ubuntu version, but something tells me that this nickname will not be the last of Ubuntu but the prelude to a new collection of nicknames that will make Ubuntu continue with its project, although it is increasingly dispersed compared to other distributions Do not you think?

For what reason did they refuse the rolling release? If they applied it, added to the snap packages, it would go back to Ubuntu. Meanwhile, I stay at Arch.

It would be interesting to do it like OpenSuse does .. its RR version and Stable - it will be good, interesting, because you would launch better versions of longer maintenance unifying desktop and server - while the RR for the most desperate.
