Ubuntu already has the PPA for NVIDIA drivers

Canonical It has its defenders and its detractors, but if something cannot fail to be recognized, it is that they act very quickly in pursuit of their objectives, something that is again evident with the intention of launch a PPA so that users of the various Ubuntu flavors can always have their NVIDIA graphics card drivers updated. A topic that we know well how important it is for users of this and other distro, that's why it generated so much attention.

Well, just days after proposing it, Ubuntu already has its PPA for NVIDIA drivers, called Graphics Drivers PPA. In it users will find the latest versions of drivers from this company, packaged for the Canonical distro (whatever flavor we use). And thus one of the main problems for many users of the great free operating system, experienced and not so much, is solved.

A proof of this can be seen in the great enthusiasm that the Ubuntu user community has expressed about the possibility of having this PPA of NVIDIA as soon as it was proposed, and even Edwin Smith (visible head of the development of Feral Interactive, which among other products have created the Shadow of Mordor video game) has shown his welcome to it. So, everything is practically ready, and although the PPA is technically already active, Canonical developers are finishing implementing some issues, so you have to be cautious.

To add the PPA we execute the following:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa: graphics-drivers / ppa

Then we update:

sudo apt-get update

And we will be able to start testing the new graphics drivers.

It is a relief to see how this issue, which has caused so much controversy, is finally being treated with more seriousness ... Probably the fact that games have gained a bit more relevance in Linux has had an influence, although even without such growth this measure was well needed .
